this commentary will present a totally different view of the Nephilim than most of you have ever heard. Give it some thought and study it out. Also remember Occam’s razor. Occam’s razor is a rule of logic that simply states that the simplest explanation for something is usually the best explanation, and most often, the correct one.
This simple commentary will help you understand one the most debated, controversial, and perverted topics discussed today
The “Son’s of God” weren’t angels, nor were they “aliens from outer space”. They were children of Adam and Eve, born in the garden of Eden before the fall.
Many believe that they were of Seth’s line, but he was born 130 years after the fall. He was not the firstborn of Adam.
The common error that the “Sons of God” were fallen angels is an unscriptural myth. It is based upon the commentary in the “living Bible” a commentary Bible, that is a bastardization of the KJV. I will present you with the scriptural evidences you need to confirm who the Sons of God were. It is not an all-inclusive list, you will find many more as you study the scriptures, but this will get you off on the right foot.
The things I will present to you in this chapter may come as a shock to you. I did not arrive at this opinion on a whim. I studied this out, over a period of years.
This chapter may rattle your doctrine to the core. Remember this is my opinion, but, to my knowledge, no one has presented the dichotomy you will read.
After you read this chapter, I encourage you to carefully and prayerfully read the book of Genesis with this in mind. I have been called a heretic, and everything short of lunatic for my doctrine concerning this. To me, it makes perfect , logical sense, and answers some of the most asked, most debated, and most argued about topics in the Christian realm today. But again, as a fallible human being, I encourage you to confirm it with your own study.
Let us begin:
First, let us take a look at the scriptures: Genesis 6:4 “There were giants in the earth in those days; and also after that, when the Sons of God came in unto the daughters of men, and they bore children to them, the same became mighty men which were of old, men of renown”.
Notice the word “renown”. Renown means “highly acclaimed and HONORED”. These Nephelim were GODLY men, HONORABLE MEN, MEN, not servants of Satan or fallen angels.
It is not hard to fathom these HUMAN BEINGS, MEN, being initially honorable and well spoken of, as time went on, becoming as corrupt as those around them, and then trying to capitalize on their much bigger size and intellect. They possibly could have tried to create a “master race” themselves, who knows?
The Genealogy of Jesus refers to Jesus and ADAM as “Son of God”. Luke 3:38 says “Which was the son of Enos, which was the son of Seth, which was the son of Adam, which was the son of God”. Jesus is God’s only BEGOTTEN SON.
Allowing the Bible’s own words to define themselves, it is obvious that the “Sons of God” were HUMANS, not angels.
Also, remember that the genealogies given in Genesis are NOT all inclusive of every child born to Adam and Eve. Genesis 5:4 says “ And the days of Adam after he had begotten Seth were eight hundred years: and he begat sons and daughters”. There is no telling how many daughters Adam had in the 930 years he lived. They are not listed in the Bible.
Many people believe Cain found his wife in The land of Nod, but he didn’t. Cain was already married when he killed Abel. He took his wife with him.
You say “well, how can that be? Cain would have had to marry a sister, or close relative to have had a wife before he was banished to the Land of Nod for Killing Abel, and that would have been incest, and was against God’s law”.
There was no prohibition against incest until AFTER THE EXODUS, when Israel left Egypt, and Moses was given the Law.
Look at Abraham, who married his HALF SISTER. They had the same father, different mothers, and Isaac married his first cousin, as did Jacob , who married Leah and Rachel, also close kin.
Also consider the fact that Cain was banished and marked. “a vagabond on the face of the earth”. He would have been reviled everywhere he went, so logically, no woman would have married him afterwards.
Imputation of sin:
Now take a look at Romans 5;13. It says that sin was IMPUTED unto those who sinned NOT after the similitude of Adam, so that as sin and death came through one man, eternal life and forgiveness could come through the man Christ Jesus.
Logically then, if one considers that even the animals, and plants and every creature on earth was cursed with sin and death, though they did no wrong, it would make sense that if Adam and Eve had children in the garden of Eden before their fall, then those children, because of the authority of Adam, inherited the curse of sin and death. They did not have the sin nature we are BORN with today. It was IMPUTED unto them. Just as sin and death was IMPUTED to Jesus at Calvary for our sakes, to save ALL men, from creation to the end of days, sin and death was also imputed unto them.
Another reason sin and death may have been imputed unto the Sons of God was to keep the family together. Adam being the head of the family at the time, and Eve also “the mother of all living”.
Now, Let’s look at Genesis 3;16. “I will greatly MULTIPLY thy pain and thy conception. In sorrow thou shall bear children”.
Once again, look at this verse logically. MULTIPLY is the key word here. Zero times zero is ZERO. Eve would have had no idea her pain was “greatly multiplied” bearing children, if she had not borne children previously.
Now take a look at Genesis 3;7: And the eyes of them both were opened, and they knew that they were naked; and they sewed fig leaves together, and made themselves aprons.
A married woman and her husband are not ashamed to be naked around one another. Who were Adam and Eve hiding their nakedness from? Children perhaps?
The DNA problem:
Another logical problem is concerning redemption. Adam was under a covenant. The animal sacrifice was how preflood man recieved grace. The fallen angels are judged and condemned already, nothing they can do can change that, so for them to have human offspring would have been basically producing humans who were beyond the reach of salvation, OR give the fallen angels a claim to salvation as descendants of Adam.
Another reason “the Sons of God” HAD to be human is, for one, it takes two humans to make a human. The laws of DNA prevent, and always have prevented, man from procreating with any other creature besides a human being. The same law applies to all God’s creation, plants and animals, that procreate. “seed bearing seed within itself, after ITS OWN KIND”
Angels are created beings, and Jesus says they “neither marry, nor are given in marriage”. The Bible says “the woman was made for the man”, not angels.
Six fingers, six toes:
Throughout the Bible, giants are commonly described as having six fingers, and six toes. This same genetic trait manifests itself today. It is still in our gene pool.
The next logical question is “well? , there were giants in the earth AFTER the flood too, so how did the Nephilim gene make it through the flood? Noah’s line was perfect, it had no nephilim DNA.
Very true statement. Genesis 6:9 says “These are the generations of Noah: Noah was a just man and perfect in his generations, and Noah walked with God”.
So Noah was perfect genetically, but his DAUGHTER’s in law were NOT. Any one of Noah’s sons wives, or possibly all of them, could have had the nephilim gene from the ten or so generations before the flood. Once again, the Bible says the Nephilim were HONORABLE MEN, so logically, these could NOT have been fallen angels that warred against God in heaven.
Another logical thing to meditate on:
IF satan had the power to procreate, or any angel had that power, he would have had to procreated with another FEMALE angel.
IF God had given satan the power to procreate, he would have provided a female angel for the male angels to have children with.
IF satan had power to procreate, he would not have stopped at Adam and Eve. No doubt he and his demons would have corrupted all creatures all over the world. God did not allow this.
An issue of Gender:
Many folks today have the misconception that angels are male or female. Fact is, most representations of angels always seem to be females, but this is not Biblical. NOWHERE in scripture, is an angel given a feminine name , or attribute. All the named angels in the Bible, are MASCULINE.
The popular notion that the Son’s of God were fallen angels is just not scriptural, logical, nor sensible. A much more valid, simple explanation is that the Son’s of God were Son’s of Seth (during his time men began to call upon the name of the Lord), or Sons of Adam born in the garden, who had sin and death IMPUTED unto them, and lastly, possibly Eve may have concieved a child in the garden, then gave birth outside the garden. My pet preference is that the Sons of God were sons of Adam and Eve born to them in the garden before the fall. Study it out, decide for yourself.
