Todays tid bit: Where does he soul and spirit go at death?
Few seminaries and preachers teach this, or even understand it.
Most don’t really know themselves. Just one reason so many are confused about it. I hope this helps. I have other posts about the first resurrection in this same blog.
The short version:
At the cross, Jesus committed his spirit to the Father and breathed his last, (Luke 23:46) , so logically the spirit of a believer also goes to be with the Lord at death.
In revelation, at the opening of the fifth seal, the SOULS of the trib martyrs are seen under the alter in heaven, so logically the soul goes to heaven at death as well
At that point in revelation, We, and the OT saints are already in heaven body, soul and spirit. The tribulation martyrs are resurrected in rev 20, the last harvest of the first resurrection. The olives.
The unbelieving dead from creation to the end of the mellinial reign will not be resurrected until the great white throne judgement. Logically, their soul and spirits are in hell until the final resurrection at the great white throne judgement.
. They will be judged and cast into the lake of fire.
Believers and unbelievers will not stand judgement together at this judgement (Psalms 1:5)
Paul said to live is Christ, to die is gain. The soul and spirit leave the body and go to heaven.
The OT saints were resurrected in matt 27:52-53, the firstfruits of the first resurrection, the barley. “And the graves were opened”.
The NT believers body will be resurrected in 1 Thess 4:15-17. “The dead in Christ shall rise first”
This is the second harvest of the first resurrection. The wheat.
In revelation, at the opening of the fifth seal, the SOULS of the trib martyrs are seen under the alter in heaven, we are already there in heaven, body, soul and spirit.
These martyrs are joined to their new glorified bodies in rev 20:4-6. , the third part of the first resurrection. The olives.
Again, few seminaries and preachers teach this, or even understand it. Study and confirm it to yourself
