The Short Sheet Gospel

This post addresses a common heresy prevailing in our churches today.

I call this legalist doctrine the short sheet gospel.

It holds that one can lose salvation, or “walk away from God”

They rail against Once saved always saved because they don’t understand it. Whoever explained it to them left out a lot of material facts. They didn’t tell them the entire doctrine. They got short sheeted.

They don’t understand that OSAS is not about “license” to sin. If anything, it’s the opposite. Paul says that some men’s sins go before them, others follow them into judgement. Jesus says we will give account for every idle word. John says if we say we are sinless, we are lying.
So what then? What about sins after salvation?

John goes on to explain it, not from a salvific sense, but from a standpoint of fellowship, and a right relationship with our Lord Jesus. And in so doing, we will not stand ashamed when Jesus appears for us, and by abiding in him (consistent fellowship and prayer), we keep a short account, and will receive a full reward at our judgement.

For the believers that don’t, those that use grace as an occasion to the flesh, they won’t get away with it (salvation not withstanding) they will give account.

It may cost them a crown, may earn them a rebuke, trouble in the flesh here, or even have their days shortened.

It is a fearful thing to fall into the hands of the living God. But, It’s more fearful going to hell.

As Job said “though he slay me, yet I trust him” Jesus is mine, and I am his, nothing and no one, including myself can break that bond.

Blessings!

Salvation explained: The short version.

You can only be saved once, and you cant lose salvation. Will we sin after salvation? If you say you dont, you’re lying. Any un repented or unconfessed sins taken into judgement will be reckoned against any rewards, but it’s not a salvific issue. You belong to Jesus. And he belongs to you.

Salvation is the free gift of God to the believer. Performance and rewards are a completely different ball of wax. Rewards are earned, and can be forfeited.
Judgement day will not be about salvation, but rewards, if any for the believers, and degree of damnation for the unbelievers.

For those believers that trod the blood of Christ underfoot, they wont get away with it,
God may shorten the days of a rebellious believer, or allow satan to destroy his body, and a rebellious believer may earn himself a rebuke, or even stripes at his judgement. But he still is a child of the king. Luke 12:47, 1 Cor 5:5

So take your vitamins and say your prayers God bless!

See John 1:9-10. If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness.

10 If we say that we have not sinned, we make him a liar, and his word is not in us.

1 John 2:28. And now, little children, abide in him; that, when he shall appear, we may have confidence, and not be ashamed before him at his coming.

1 Tim 5:24 Some men’s sins are open beforehand, going before to judgment; and some men they follow after.

Ecc 12:14. For God shall bring every work into judgment, with every secret thing, whether it be good, or whether it be evil.” “But I say unto you, That every idle word that men shall speak, they shall give account thereof in the day of judgment.

“2 John 1:8 Look to yourselves, that we lose not those things which we have wrought, but that we receive a full reward.

God Bless you!

The Short version of the end times.

I pray this post helps you put it all together, or enriches your understanding of things to come. “abide in him, so that when he appears for us, you won’t stand ashamed.”

Study and see for yourself: AFTER the rapture (1 Thess 4:16-17) and at the end of the marriage supper of the Lamb, (Rev 19:9, IS 63:1-3) Jesus hides us away in our heavenly chambers “for a moment as it were, til the indignation is past”, and returns ALONE.(IS 26:19-21),wherein he destroys the antichrist army, making the earth safe for his saints, (IS 63:1-3).

Then he opens the door of heaven, releasing his saints to come with him. (1 thess 3:13, IS 63:3, Rev 19) At that time also, he sends forth the Angels, to gather every living human being , sinner and saint left alive on earth,(not us) (Mt 24:31, Mt 13:49.). The righteous and the wicked, to the valley of decision for the judgement of the nations.(Mt 25:31, Joel 3:14)

We will be judges there also. (Malachi 3:16-18,1 Cor 6:2) The sheep and goats will be separated.

(Mt 25:31-41) The goats will be cast into the flames, the sheep will be commended, and enter the kingdom as MORTAL kingdom citizens. The dead killed near the end, before our return are raised to life and enter the kingdom as IMMORTAL priests unto God. (Rev 20:4-6) WE rule and reign with Christ as kings and priests unto God in his kingdom. (Rev 1:6, rev 5:9-10)

There are many other scriptures to support this dichotomy. A quick reference to the supporting scriptures is provided below.

Our worry is not the tribulation, our greatest concern is to tell others about Jesus, and our blessed hope, and to keep our garments clean so to be prepared and ready to meet the Lord with a clear conscience at any moment. “Therefore comfort one another with these words”

Study, study, study, and you’ll be blessed! God bless you, see you at the wedding!

[1] 1Thess 4:16 For the Lord himself shall descend from heaven with a shout, with the voice of the archangel, and with the trump of God: and the dead in Christ shall rise first:

17 Then we which are alive and remain shall be caught up together with them in the clouds, to meet the Lord in the air: and so shall we ever be with the Lord.

18 Wherefore comfort one another with these words.

[2]. Rev 19:9 And he saith unto me, Write, Blessed are they which are called unto the marriage supper of the Lamb. And he saith unto me, These are the true sayings of God.

[3].IS 26:19 Thy dead men shall live, together with my dead body shall they arise. Awake and sing, ye that dwell in dust: for thy dew is as the dew of herbs, and the earth shall cast out the dead.

20 Come, my people, enter thou into thy chambers, and shut thy doors about thee: hide thyself as it were for a little moment, until the indignation be overpast.

21 For, behold, the Lord cometh out of his place to punish the inhabitants of the earth for their iniquity: the earth also shall disclose her blood, and shall no more cover her slain.

[4]. 1 Thessalonians 3:13, KJV: “To the end he may stablish your hearts unblameable in holiness before God, even our Father, at the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ with all his saints.”

[5] IS 63:2-3 2 Wherefore art thou red in thine apparel, and thy garments like him that treadeth in the winefat?

3 I have trodden the winepress alone; and of the people there was none with me: for I will tread them in mine anger, and trample them in my fury; and their blood shall be sprinkled upon my garments, and I will stain all my raiment.

[6] Mt 24:31 And he shall send his angels with a great sound of a trumpet, and they shall gather together his elect from the four winds, from one end of heaven to the other.

Mt.13:49-50
So shall it be at the end of the world: the angels shall come forth, and sever the wicked from among the just,And shall cast them into the furnace of fire: there shall be wailing and gnashing of teeth.

Mt 25:31-33 When the Son of man shall come in his glory, and all the holy angels with him, then shall he sit upon the throne of his glory:

32 And before him shall be gathered all nations: and he shall separate them one from another, as a shepherd divideth his sheep from the goats:

33 And he shall set the sheep on his right hand, but the goats on the left.

Joel 3:14 Multitudes, multitudes in the valley of decision: for the day of the Lord is near in the valley of decision.

Malachi 3:17-18
17 And they shall be mine, saith the Lord of hosts, in that day when I make up my jewels; and I will spare them, as a man spareth his own son that serveth him.

18 Then shall ye return, and discern between the righteous and the wicked, between him that serveth God and him that serveth him not.

1 Cor 6:2 Do ye not know that the saints shall judge the world? and if the world shall be judged by you, are ye unworthy to judge the smallest matters?
Rev 20:4 And I saw thrones, and they sat upon them, and judgment was given unto them: and I saw the souls of them that were beheaded for the witness of Jesus, and for the word of God, and which had not worshipped the beast, neither his image, neither had received his mark upon their foreheads, or in their hands; and they lived and reigned with Christ a thousand years.

Rev 1:6 And hath made us kings and priests unto God and his Father; to him be glory and dominion for ever and ever. Amen

Rev 5:9-10
And they sung a new song, saying, Thou art worthy to take the book, and to open the seals thereof: for thou wast slain, and hast redeemed us to God by thy blood out of every kindred, and tongue, and people, and nation;

10 And hast made us unto our God kings and priests: and we shall reign on the earth.
