Everyone has a birthday, but not every bodys birthday is on the same day.
The best way to frame this post is this:
Everybody has a death day , and a judgement day, but not everybody dies on the same day, nor will every bodys judgement day be on the same day.
Most all churches today teach a one day, one time resurrection, and one judgement of the saints, but apart from sweeping generalizations and “only the Lord knows”, none of them can explain or articulate any specifics about judgement day, or any of the judgements.
When? Who all will be there? Where will it take place? What are our rewards? Etc.
Most churches in my area believe and teach three saints judgements:
1. “The Bema” seat judgement”, mentioned in 1 Cor 5:10, and 2:”The judgement of the nations”, commonly called “the sheep/goat judgement” mentioned in Mt 25:31-34, and Joel 3:2. And “The Great white throne judgement” mentioned in Rev 20:11-13.
And all are scriptural and very true. I will add to,and explain these three..
Some claim the Great White throne Judgement is the one time, one day judgement of all people. The only problem with that is they have to totally ignore the Bema and Sheep Goat judgement.
So while claiming a one day, one time resurrection and judgement, most churches, pastors and teachers paradoxically convey, preach and teach 3 judgements, which logically take place at different times, in different locations, and are applicable to different companies of saints at different times throughout history.
The end result is a confused church member, who has no idea how to understand his own future judgement, much less explain it to someone else.
While not a salvific issue. Both of the above are fundamental errors in eschatology that hinder one’s understanding of their Bible.
A lot of our blessings that we have to look foward to are obscured by errant doctrines, unread, ignorant teachers, and fundamental misunderstandings of the Bible.
In short, many eschatology teachers teach over their heads, above their level of understanding, or simply have no business teaching. God will not hold us guiltless for such.
. My hope here is to help you in your understanding, and hopefully reveal the awesome, wonderful things our Lord Jesus has in store for us!
Take this post as my opinion. Read it, throw it in the trash when youre finished with it if you want. But you can’t unread it. It makes sense, and it has scriptural harmony.
Be a Berean, and see if such things are true.
All judgements and resurrections mentioned here are predicated upon, and fit neatly in the pattern of the Jewish harvest and the Jewish wedding, which I will allude to in my comments.
Let us begin:
I mentioned three judgements, but there are more than that. Rewind about 2000 years. Will begin at the cross, and the Elders judgement.
Reading the first few chapters of Revelation, one sees “The elders” already crowned and SEATED on thrones in heaven.
Who are these people? “Elder” means “oldest”,so logically these are Old Testament saints that arose with Jesus at his resurrection, or shortly thereafter. “The first fruits barley”.
“How did they get there? Who are they?” The Bible tells us.
THE ELDERS RESURRECTION AND JUDGEMENT.
Jesus rose from the dead on Feast of Firstfruits. The OT saints arose with him shortly after. That event was prophesied in at least 2 places in the OT.
Hosea 6:1 Come, and let us return unto the Lord: for he hath torn, and he will heal us; he hath smitten, and he will bind us up.2 After two days will he revive us: in the third day he will raise us up, and we shall live in his sight.
IS 26:19 Thy dead men shall live, together with my dead body shall they arise. Awake and sing, ye that dwell in dust: for thy dew is as the dew of herbs, and the earth shall cast out the dead.
The Elders are the first fruits barley. They are those saints that came out of the graves after Jesus resurrection in Matthew 27:52-53.
Matthew 27:52-53 And the graves were opened; and many bodies of the saints which slept arose, and came out of the graves after his resurrection, and went into the holy city, and appeared unto many.
This happened after Jesus resurrection, this company of saints were removed from Abraham’s bosom, see Eph 4:8. Wherefore he saith, When he ascended up on high, he led captivity captive, and gave gifts unto men. 9:Now that he ascended, what is it but that he also descended first into the lower parts of the earth? 10 He that descended is the same also that ascended up far above all heavens, that he might fill all things.
1 Pet 3:19 By which also he went and preached unto the spirits in prison; 20 Which sometime were disobedient, when once the longsuffering of God waited in the days of Noah, while the ark was a preparing, wherein few, that is, eight souls were saved by water.
These saints are in heaven with Jesus, and are seen as the elders in Rev 4:4. Note they are seated with Crowns:
Rev 4:4 And round about the throne were four and twenty seats: and upon the seats I saw four and twenty elders sitting, clothed in white raiment; and they had on their heads crowns of gold.
They have alread stood their judgement, have received their rewards and blessings, and are seated with Christ in heaven.
They are wearing crowns and white robes at this moment in heaven in immortal bodies. Yes, there are real people already in heaven.
In the Jewish wedding, when the groom arrived at his father’s house with his Bride, , the city Elders were summoned to witness the Ketubah, the list of promises from the Groom to his bride. We find the Ketubah in revelation 2 and 3, with the Elders mentioned afterwards in Revelation 4:4. They are awaiting the arrival of the Bride, 1 Thess 4:16.
Our crowning will be in Rev 11:18, the Bema seat judgement.

Many folks use that verse as proof of a one time, one day resurrection at the end of the tribulation, versus the harvest model.

The short version of Rapture and Jesus Second coming: Link Hudson The short version: Jesus APPEARS for his saints, and takes them to his Fathers house (John 14:1-3, and 1 Thess 4:16 “The Lord himself shall descend), Then, some years later Jesus returns ALONE to defeat antichrist and his armies at Armegeddon and throughout the middle east, to make the earth safe for his Bride (IS 63:3-Rev 14:20). After this, his Bride follows, and the ANGELS gather the world’s surviving population (wheat and tares) to Israel. (We get there on white horses). The the saints judge the world. 1 Cor 6:2, Rev 20:4. The goats are executed by fire, the sheep enter the kingdom as mortal citizens. We rule and reign with Christ as immortals.
If you are going to use the harvest model, then the first fruits barley, main barley harvest, first fruits wheat and olives are gathered first, followed by the main wheat harvest, grapes, then figs and pomegranites, and lastly the wheat and tares, aka end harvest, last ingathering, or the gleanings.
Blessings!
