The harvest model: (297)

Jesus continually uses harvest, sowing, bearing fruit analogies throughout his discourses. This is an important clue and a great help in understanding our Bible.

If one reads Revelation, they will see many of these those same allegories and euphemisms used to describe groups of people and end time events.

There are several groups of people mentioned in Revelation characterized by a fruit of the harvest euphemism:

There is one harvest crop that is conspiciously ABSENT in the harvest The Barley, but they’re there, .

In the order of the harvest, The first fruits barley is the FIRST CROP harvested, (Mt 27:52-53) followed by the main crop, and then the first fruits wheat harvest. (1 Thess 4:16, THEN RAPTURE) Wheat matures after barley, and these two companies are not mentioned in Revelation per se, because they’re in heaven!

Olive trees: The two Prophets, (and most likely their fruit, other martyrs) these are mid Tribulation martyrs. Rev 7, Rev 11:11,

Wheat: late trib martyrs (Rev 14:16) and “The elect”, those saints alive at Jesus return. (Mt 25:31-41) Also referred to as “sheep”.

Grapes: Speaks to UNbelievers at the battle of Armegeddon. (Rev 14:19, IS 63:3).

Pomegranates: the 144,000 from the 12 tribes of Israel. (My inference).

Two bowls of figs: Speaks to the Jewish remnant, two companies: The good bowl, that flees to the wilderness when “Jacob’s trouble” begins, and a bad bowl in Israel. (those Jews that submit to the beast after Israel’s betrayal). Jer 24:5-7.

Tares: End trib unbelievers that are alive when Jesus returns with us. Also referred to as goats. (Rev 20:4).

The harvest order: The first fruits barley, main barley harvest, first fruits wheat are the first phase of the harvest. MT 27:52, 1 Thess 4:16-17

The first harvest period ends with the Rapture, and Rapture begins the second, Shavout.

Shavout begins with rapture, then the olives, followed by the main wheat harvest . (Rev 7:9)

Then the third harvest period begins, Succoth: Grapes Pomegranates and figs, then the end harvest, wheat and tares, also called the last ingathering, or the gleanings.(Rev 14:19, Mt 25:31-41, Rev 20:4)

With that, EVERYONE, every group, is mentioned and accounted for in Revelation.

He answered and said unto them, He that soweth the good seed is the Son of man;

Mt 1339 The enemy that sowed them is the devil; the harvest is the end of the world; and the reapers are the angels.

Matt 13:19 When any one heareth the word of the kingdom, and understandeth it not, then cometh the wicked one, and catcheth away that which was sown in his heart. This is he which received seed by the wayside.

24 Another parable put he forth unto them, saying, The kingdom of heaven is likened unto a man which sowed good seed in his field: 25 But while men slept, his enemy came and sowed tares among the wheat, and went his way. 26 Another parable put he forth unto them, saying, 27 The kingdom of heaven is like to a grain of mustard seed, which a man took, and sowed in his field: Which indeed is the least of all seeds: but when it is grown, it is the greatest among herbs, and becometh a tree, so that the birds of the air come and lodge in the branches thereof.

Matt 13:30 Let both grow together until the harvest: and in the time of harvest I will say to the reapers, Gather ye together first the tares, and bind them in bundles to burn them: but gather the wheat into my barn.

40 As therefore the tares are gathered and burned in the fire; so shall it be in the end of this world.

41 The Son of man shall send forth his angels, and they shall gather out of his kingdom all things that offend, and them which do iniquity;

42 And shall cast them into a furnace of fire: there shall be wailing and gnashing of teeth.

43 Then shall the righteous shine forth as the sun in the kingdom of their Father. Who hath ears to hear, let him hear.

There is an analogy in Jeremiah that describes Israel during the time of Jacob’s trouble: 4 Then the word of the Lord came to me: 5 “Thus says the Lord, the God of Israel: Like these good figs, so I will regard as good the exiles from Judah, whom I have sent away from this place to the land of the Chaldeans.

Here is a list of harvest analogies in Revelation:

Revelation 6: And I heard a voice in the midst of the four beasts say, A measure of wheat for a penny, and three measures of barley for a penny; and see thou hurt not the oil and the wine.

Rev 6:13 And the stars of heaven fell unto the earth, even as a fig tree casteth her untimely figs, when she is shaken of a mighty wind.

Rev 11:3 And I will give power unto my two witnesses, and they shall prophesy a thousand two hundred and threescore days, clothed in sackcloth. These are the two olive trees, and the two candlesticks standing before the God of the earth.

Rev 14:14 And I looked, and behold a white cloud, and upon the cloud one sat like unto the Son of man, having on his head a golden crown, and in his hand a sharp sickle.  And another angel came out of the temple, crying with a loud voice to him that sat on the cloud, Thrust in thy sickle, and reap: for the time is come for thee to reap; for the harvest of the earth is ripe.  And he that sat on the cloud thrust in his sickle on the earth; and the earth was reaped.

Rev 14: 17 And another angel came out of the temple which is in heaven, he also having a sharp sickle.18 And another angel came out from the altar, which had power over fire; and cried with a loud cry to him that had the sharp sickle, saying, Thrust in thy sharp sickle, and gather the clusters of the vine of the earth; for her grapes are fully ripe.19 And the angel thrust in his sickle into the earth, and gathered the vine of the earth, and cast it into the great winepress of the wrath of God.20 And the winepress was trodden without the city, and blood came out of the winepress, even unto the horse bridles, by the space of a thousand and six hundred furlongs.

The harvest model:

The first fruits barley Mt 27:52-53, IS 26:20 happened on the first day of feast of first fruits barley.

And the graves were opened; and many bodies of the saints which slept arose, And came out of the graves after his resurrection, and went into the holy city, and appeared unto many. IS 26:19Thy dead men shall live, together with my dead body shall they arise. Awake and sing, ye that dwell in dust: for thy dew is as the dew of herbs, and the earth shall cast out the dead. HOS 6:1-2 1Come, and let us return unto the LORD: for he hath torn, and he will heal us; he hath smitten, After two days will he revive us: in the third day he will raise us up, and we shall live in his sight.

Main barley harvest, Rapture 2000 years later,

1 Thess.4:16, along with the first fruits wheat immediately after. For the Lord himself shall descend from heaven with a shout, with the voice of the archangel, and with the trump of God: and the dead in Christ shall rise first: Then we which are alive and remain shall be caught up together with them in the clouds, to meet the Lord in the air: and so shall we ever be with the Lord.

Then olives are gathered:

Rev 11:11 (tribulation martyrs at mid tribulation). Rev 11:4 These are the two olive trees, and the two candlesticks standing before the God of the earth. And when they shall have finished their testimony, the beast that ascendeth out of the bottomless pit shall make war against them, and shall overcome them, and kill them. And their dead bodies shall lie in the street of the great city, which spiritually is called Sodom and Egypt, where also our Lord was crucified. 11And after three days and an half the spirit of life from God entered into them, and they stood upon their feet; and great fear fell upon them which saw them.

Followed by the main wheat harvest: Notice three harvests in one chapter of Revelation.

Rev 14:14-16 (late tribulation martyrs up to that point).

The grapes, these are unbelievers at Armageddon. Rev 14:18-20, IS 63:3.Thrust in thy sharp sickle, and gather the clusters of the vine of the earth; for her grapes are fully ripe. And the angel thrust in his sickle into the earth, and gathered the vine of the earth, and cast it into the great winepress of the wrath of God. And the winepress was trodden without the city, and blood came out of the winepress, even unto the horse bridles, by the space of a thousand and six hundred furlongs.

Then begins the end harvest, the last ingathering and gleanings, end tribulation

Pomagranates, These are the 144,000 virgins from the twelve tribes of Israel “who keep the commandments of God”. also called “first fruits” (of the last harvest period) There are 613 Jewish laws, and 613 seeds in a pomegranate. And I looked, and, lo, a Lamb stood on the mount Sion, and with him an hundred forty and four thousand, having his Father’s name written in their foreheads. And I heard a voice from heaven, as the voice of many waters, and as the voice of a great thunder: and I heard the voice of harpers harping with their harps: And they sung as it were a new song before the throne, and before the four beasts, and the elders: and no man could learn that song but the hundred and forty and four thousand, which were redeemed from the earth. These are they which were not defiled with women; for they are virgins. These are they which follow the Lamb whithersoever he goeth. These were redeemed from among men, being the firstfruits unto God and to the Lamb.

The figs, the Jewish remnant in the wilderness during the Tribulation, and those “bad figs” who capitulated to the beast in Israel. Two bowls. Jer 24:2 One basket had very good figs, like first-ripe figs, but the other basket had very bad figs, so bad that they could not be eaten. And the Lord said to me, “What do you see, Jeremiah?” I said, “Figs, the good figs very good, and the bad figs very bad, so bad that they cannot be eaten.”

JER 24:4-5 Then the word of the Lord came to me: “Thus says the Lord, the God of Israel: Like these good figs, so I will regard as good the exiles from Judah, whom I have sent away from this place to the land of the Chaldeans.

Then the wheat and tares, The survivors of the tribulation who are here when Jesus returns with us, his Bride, also called “the gathering of the elect”. Mt 13:41 The Son of man shall send forth his angels, and they shall gather out of his kingdom all things that offend, and them which do iniquity;42 And shall cast them into a furnace of fire: there shall be wailing and gnashing of teeth. Joel 3:2 I will also gather all nations, and will bring them down into the valley of Jehoshaphat, and will plead with them there for my people and for my heritage Israel, whom they have scattered among the nations, and parted my land.14 Multitudes, multitudes in the valley of decision: for the day of the Lord is near in the valley of decision.

31 When the Son of man shall come in his glory, and all the holy angels with him, then shall he sit upon the throne of his glory:

32 And before him shall be gathered all nations: and he shall separate them one from another, as a shepherd divideth his sheep from the goats:

33 And he shall set the sheep on his right hand, but the goats on the left.

34 Then shall the King say unto them on his right hand, Come, ye blessed of my Father, inherit the kingdom prepared for you from the foundation of the world:

41 Then shall he say also unto them on the left hand, Depart from me, ye cursed, into everlasting fire, prepared for the devil and his angels:

And finally, The gleanings. Rev 20:4, post tribulation saints killed since the last harvest in Rev 14:16 And I saw thrones, and they sat upon them, and judgment was given unto them: and I saw the souls of them that were beheaded for the witness of Jesus, and for the word of God, and which had not worshipped the beast, neither his image, neither had received his mark upon their foreheads, or in their hands; and they lived and reigned with Christ a thousand years. 6 Blessed and holy is he that hath part in the first resurrection: on such the second death hath no power, but they shall be priests of God and of Christ, and shall reign with him a thousand years.
